Washington, D.C. – House Foreign Affairs Committee Chairman Ed Royce (R-CA) released the following statement in response to President Obama’s address on U.S. operations against ISIS:

“President Obama still doesn’t have a plan to defeat ISIS.  The White House’s inaction and ineptness allowed these radical Islamist terrorists to spread across Syria, Iraq and Libya.  Today ISIS continues to control huge swaths of land, and they are using these safe havens to inspire and plot more attacks against the United States.

“If we are going to keep America safe, we need to take the fight to ISIS.  No more sitting back.  We must act decisively to eliminate ISIS sanctuaries.  And we can do this by giving our pilots and commanders on the ground the flexibility they need, and providing additional support to our partners – including the Kurds, the Yazidis, and the Sunni tribes – who have been most effective in the fight against ISIS.”

NOTE: Last week, Chairman Royce joined House Republican leaders in releasing a plan to keep America safe and advance our national interests abroad.  This agenda includes 67 recommendations to protect the homeland, defeat the terrorists and tackle new threats.
