Washington, D.C. – Today, Rep. Ed Royce (R-CA), Chairman of the House Foreign Affairs Committee, called on the Obama Administration to approve the Keystone pipeline and issued the following statement on today’s announcement that Nebraska Governor Dave Heineman has approved a route for the Keystone pipeline:

“The Administration has held up this critical energy project for too long.

“The U.S. sends billions of petrodollars every year to hostile regimes.  The Keystone pipeline would transfer up to 550,000 barrels of oil daily from Canada to the U.S., creating hundreds of thousands of jobs.  The economic benefits of this energy project are large.

“We can develop North American energy, create jobs, lessen dependency on OPEC countries, and enhance our long-term energy security. Or we can continue to block Keystone.

“It is a simple choice, Mr. President.”
