McCaul Applauds Trump Executive Order to Strengthen Supply Chains Amid CoronavirusPress Release
Washington, D.C. – Today, Congressman Michael McCaul (R-TX), Republican Leader on the House Foreign Affairs Committee released the following statement applauding the Trump Administration’s Executive Order to further domestic production of strategic resources necessary to respond to the Covid-19 outbreak and strengthen other supply chains by delegating authority to the United States International Development Finance Corporation (DFC) to provide financing to key industries that produce vital goods and services.
“The President’s executive order for the Development Finance Corporation is a bold, creative response to the crisis we are facing. For far too long the United States has relied on China to produce essential goods, such as medicine, medical supplies and Personal protective equipment. We can’t bet Americans’ health and security on the potential malign decisions of our strategic adversary, the Chinese Communist Party. We need to shift critical supply chains onshore and toward reliable partners. This novel approach can help us meet this urgent need.”
