Washington, D.C. – Congressman Michael McCaul (R-TX), Republican Leader on the House Foreign Affairs Committee, released the following statement on the absence of international aid in the Democrats’ HEROES act.

“It’s incredibly disingenuous when Democrat leaders complain that the Administration isn’t acting like a global leader in the battle against COVID-19 when their so-called $3 trillion dollar ‘wish list’ bill doesn’t includes a single cent of funding for international aid.  This is especially disturbing as the virus is spreading rapidly in developing countries across Latin America, the Middle East and Africa. The Trump Administration has already provided more than $900 million to fight COVID-19 in over 120 countries around the world, more than double the next highest donor.

“This pandemic requires a global response. Unfortunately, Democrat leaders are solely focused on prosecuting the president and pursuing partisan domestic liberal policy objectives – to the abandonment of our global responsibilities.”
