“Communist China is the greatest long term national security threat to the United States…Covid was a wake-up call…It opened everyone’s eyes to the fact that we are so dependent on them…I introduced this bill (CHIPS For America Act) because working with the prior administration, it was called to my attention how important this issue is…As Bruce laid it out, it’s everything in your phone, but also our most advanced weapons systems, and we can’t have a supply chain that’s going to be compromised…We cannot allow these chips to be compromised and the only way you can do that is to bring that manufacturing either to the United States by incentives, both tax incentives or a grant program, but also our allied nations. If we can’t do that, we’re gonna fail.”
