WASHINGTON, DC – Ahead of this week’s anticipated confirmation hearing for the incoming Biden Administration’s nominee for Secretary of State Antony Blinken, House Foreign Affairs Committee Lead Republican has issued the following statement.

“There are many outstanding questions on how President-Elect Biden and his foreign policy team will handle important issues facing our country. I encourage my Senate colleagues to dig deep into the many foreign policy areas where we have heard very little from the incoming administration. I also urge Mr. Blinken and the president-elect to evaluate each policy based on its merits, and not simply disregard any because it was a prior administration’s policy. The Secretary of State serves as the chief spokesperson for United States foreign policy around the world and we need a full and clear picture of what Mr. Blinken and the Biden Administration have planned during what is an incredibly fraught period of time on the global stage.”
