Washington, D.C. – Congressman Michael McCaul (R-TX), Republican Leader on the House Foreign Affairs Committee, released the following statement on the 31st Anniversary of Tiananmen Square.

“Thirty one years ago today, the Chinese Communist Party’s army killed hundreds – possibly even thousands – of unarmed civilians in Beijing. It is incumbent upon us to keep the memory and spirit of Tiananmen alive. Today, in their memory, the United States calls for a just and open accounting for the Tiananmen massacre, and we condemn the serious, ongoing human rights violations by the Chinese Communist Party.”
