Washington, D.C. – House Foreign Affairs Committee Lead Republican Michael McCaul released a statement on the Ukraine supplemental funding request.

“It is vital that Congress swiftly pass a clean supplemental that ensures Ukraine wins in the face of Russia’s unprovoked war of aggression. We will examine the security assistance request closely to see if more is necessary, however, I remain frustrated the U.S. failed to get weapons to Ukraine in the critical months before the full-scale invasion began. Once the supplemental becomes law, the administration must prioritize getting these much-needed heavy weapons into the hands of Ukrainians as quickly as possible. Additionally, this request is woefully insufficient to address catastrophic levels of global food insecurity. The human suffering and destabilization caused by Putin are extending far beyond Ukraine as global food prices are skyrocketing and millions more people are on the brink of starvation.”
