McCaul Renews Call for Peter Daszak to be SubpoenaedPress Release
Washington, D.C. – House Foreign Affairs Committee Lead Republican Michael McCaul has released the following statement in response to recent reports that EcoHealth alliance was funding gain-of-function research at the Wuhan Institute of Virology (WIV).
“My report on the origins of the COVID-19 pandemic provided clear evidence EcoHealth Alliance was funding research at the Wuhan Institute of Virology that made viruses more contagious – even though they knew WIV scientists were conducting research at unsafe biosafety levels. Now we discover EcoHealth Alliance has lied to the U.S. government about funding gain-of-function research at the WIV in the years leading up to the COVID-19 pandemic. EcoHealth Alliance must be held accountable for lying to the federal government about what exactly they were using American taxpayer money for. I am once again calling for EcoHealth Alliance President Peter Daszak to be subpoenaed to appear before Congress. Millions of people around the world have been killed and economies have been decimated. The American people want and deserve real answers.”
