McCaul: “US Stands with Hong Kong in Fight for Freedom Against CCP Oppression”Press Release
Washington, D.C. – Congressman Michael McCaul (R-TX), Republican Leader on the House Foreign Affairs Committee, released the following statement urging the Chinese Communist Party not to impose legislation that would further stifle freedom in Hong Kong and reiterating United States’ support for Hong Kongers’ fight for democracy.
“I strongly urge the Chinese Communist Party not to impose additional oppressive legislation disguised as ‘national security’ on Hong Kong. Any law passed by the CCP that further stifles the freedom of the people of Hong Kong would only further erode the foundations of One Country, Two Systems, and will not be tolerated by the United States. We stand with the people of Hong Kong who are fighting for freedom over oppression, and for democracy over the CCP’s tyranny.”
