A day after three young Cleveland women were rescued from nearly a decade of captivity, U.S. Rep. Ed Royce (R-CA), Chairman of the House Foreign Affairs Committee, this morning convened a Committee hearing to examine initiatives to combat human trafficking.  The hearing was entitled “Local and Private Sector Initiatives to Combat International Human Trafficking.

At the hearing, Chairman Royce said, “As we rejoice at the [the women’s rescue], this hearing today, this testimony today — underscores the sad reality that millions of other girls around this world – and indeed right here in our own communities, in our own counties – are being robbed of their youth, as silent victims of forced sexual exploitation.”
